WISE Trailer Sales & Service
Make a "WISE" Decision! Get HOOKED Up!
Wise Trailer Sales
and Service has been in business since 1975. In the
late 1960's, C. Bruce Wise sold his lumber company
in order to develop Wise's Mobile Terrace. He
bought some farm land on New Germany Road for the
location of the park. Work on the park continued
into the 70's. His son, D. Bruce Wise helped in the
development of the park while he was going to High
School. When he graduated from school, he got an
idea of selling RV's. He used some land that was
undeveloped in the back corner of the park. D.
Bruce put up a building that would be his service
shop, small parts store, and office. It was pretty
tough at first. Without any employees, he would
work late into the night to get the trailers
serviced that he sold. When the trailer sales were
slow, he relied on truck cap sales for income.
One of his best decisions came when he decided to pick up Jayco for their tent campers (fold downs) in 1977. Once he saw the quality and the way Jayco went about doing business, he dropped the other brands he was carrying. Soon he added travel trailers and motor homes to his Jayco inventory. He was so impressed with Jayco, that he renamed the street Wise Trailer Sales and Service was located on to Jayco Drive.
While large RV dealerships were going out of business due to the gas shortage, Wise Trailer Sales and Service survived. We owe this to the fact that we were still small and didn't have the large overhead that forced others out of business. D. Bruce took a big gamble once the gas situation started its recovery. He stocked up on inventory anticipating that the market would turn around. It did and with that he started to hire employees to help with the increase in business. Not too long after, he built another building to serve as a parts store, showroom, and offices. Business continued to grow into and out of the 90's.
D. Bruce's oldest son, Justin Bruce Wise, graduated from High School in 1998. He decided he wanted to get involved in the family business. He went to Clarion University, majored in Business Management, and graduated in 2002 with a 3.71 GPA. He currently is a salesman, bookkeeper, and helps to manage the business with his dad's knowledge and guidance.
In 2004 Wise Trailer Sales and Service raised the roof on their service building. The doors that were high enough years ago were not so any longer. We also moved the service office and added another service door in the back to create a drive thru bay. Our recent and ongoing project is adding a new lot behind our parts store. We are very proud of and look forward to making more history. Despite the fact that we don't have a great location to draw in new customers, we do have something great that we consider even more important. Word of mouth from our satisfied customers!
